Meaning of Test Scenario
Test Scenario is a type of document which is prepared by the tester. Each Requirement has only one Scenario. It is also called by Test condition or Test Possibility. When Project comes for developing then the first step should be Prepare the Document( Test Scenario).
As a tester, we might focus on the all real word scenario which might happen with the end users.
What is scenario Testing?
Scenario Testing is the way of testing where the tester can only focus on end to end testing or Real world scenarios. In this, tester find bug easily which might not come with another type of testing. The Tester can test all the real world scenario and make their application more impressive.
Why do we need to create test Scenario?
-
When the project just starts at that time tester can write Test Scenario.
-
To ensure that all the Test covered.
-
After Complete your Test Scenario that document should be approved by the business Analyst, Team Lead and Project Management.
-
If needed then approved by Customer and Developers also.
-
Test Scenarios help to write Test cases of that application.
-
Easily prioritize the important functioning of that application.
-
Help to find most real world use of that applications.
-
Requirement fixed. Not changed too much.
When not to create the Test Scenario.
-
When the application is unstable and half of that application is developed than that time no need to write the Test Scenarios.
-
When the bug is fixed then no need to write Test Scenario for that.
Explain With Example:
Test Scenario of Banking Application
-
Check Login and Authentication functionality.
-
Check the transfer functionality.
-
Check the list of the transactions.
-
Check the Deposit and withdraw functionality.
-
Check Loan functionality.
-
The process goes on.
Conclusion: Test Cases and Test Scenario both are different things. The test scenario is the first step which tester do. Most probably the companies are only focused on the test cases. I think we all should first be focused on the Test Scenario. Tester should prepare the proper Test Scenario of the project. If the Requirement is fixed then easy to make Test Scenarios.
