A payment gateway is an e-commerce application service that provides online payment via authorized credit cards.The
payment gateways provides security by encrypting the confidential information of the customer and the merchant,so
that the information can not be viewed by any third party.So the testing of payment gateway is very crucial and
should be taken at high priority.The key points that are to be kept in mind while testing a payment gateway system are :
- While testing the payment gateway, keep checking what is happening in the backend.
- Test whether the correct amount is being transacted.
- Test the response time while the payment is in process, it should not be too large
- Check the length of the credit cards number, CVV numbers and there validity.
- Check whether error is shown in case of void payments.
- Check what happens if the process fails.
- If the money is transacted and then the process fails, then it should be refunded back.
- Check what happens if user press the back button in between of the process.
- Check what if we turn off/on the pop up blocker.
- Check whether the details are properly encrypted or not.
- After the successful payment,check whether the important components are retrieved or not.Also check the
database whether it is storing the enteries or not.
