New Updates In Android Studio 3.0

Two weeks ago, the Android Studio 3.0 version was launched by Google at annual developer conference( Google I/O 2017). Google has added new features in the IDE (Integrated Development Environment )of Android Studio 3.0. Let’s not miss out on the main features released by Google.Android Studio 3.0  renders support for a new language Kotlin in the development process. It has also incorporated a new Android profiling tool in place of Android Monitor to deal with performance issues. Plus, other major update is a new suite of wizards to speed up your development on the latest Android Oreo APIs.

  • Android developers can add Kotlin to their code by using a built-in conversion tool in the IDE of Android Studio 3.0. via the menu sequence Code > Convert Java File to Kotlin File.

  • In Android Studio 3.0 , Java 8 language feature support has been improved . The new Android Gradle build system plugin lets the developers use Java 8 features in code and libraries.

  • Adding Instant Apps features to your projects don’t require a user installer.That means, these are lightweight Android apps that your users can immediately run without installation.

  • To help diagnose performance problems, Android Studio 3.0 has added Android profiler that has come in the replacement of Android Monitor. After installing your app on running device or a emulator. Click on Android Profiler and you will see the new window that  has been developed for developers to have insightful, unified views of all relevant data related to their apps.

  • Breaking API changes in Android Gradle plugin  has improved the speed of development. Developers who are dependent on APIs of previous gradle plugin, they should migrate to  new Application APIs and validate compatibility with the new plugin.

  • Adaptive Icon Wizard: It builds a set of launcher icon assets and provides previews on how your adaptive icon will look like with different launcher screen icon masks. VectorDrawable layers support is new for this release.
