Android Set To Include DNS over TLS Support For Secure Browsing

Do you know, an ISP(Internet Service Provider) is aware of all the websites you visit? The answer is Yes! When we enter the URL address of the website to access through the browsers. DNS plays a vital role in this process. DNS is a Domain Name Server which uses the website address to serve the pages requested by the user. The URL address gets converted into IP Address and the pages of websites are shown to you. This whole process is monitored by an ISP. ISP keeps a record of all the websites you have viewed. The conversion of your data by UDP or TCP protocols is not encrypted which can be easily attacked by the ISPs.

So your browsing data on the internet is not secure from anyone. To increase the level of protection from the ISPs, there are protocols like HTTPs and DNS(Domain Name System). HTTPs only serves a purpose for keeping ISPs away from seeing the websites which are visited by you. But it fails to hide the content you have viewed on those sites.

Android is all set to give DNS over TLS support for hindering the ISPs to see your browser requests and the content you are viewing. DNS, with the support of TLS, keeps the websites private by the encryption process. Switching on to Google’s DNS can be a good idea which is free to use. You can also get a VPN which stands for Virtual Private Network service to ensure full protection. To use DNS settings, sometimes you need to have an access to VPN. Not all DNS support encryption of browsers requests to increase secure web browsing. So, one can improve the security while browsing the internet, if one has an access to a VPN App.

Google is all set to provide this DNS over TLS support for ensuring high-level security to Android users. Android repository has been updated which will let the users enable DNS over TLS. This new feature of Android is estimated to be launched in the future versions of Android such as 8.1.
