How To Manage Payment Methods On iOS

Before you can make app purchases on iTunes Store, iBooks Store or App Store, the first thing you need is an Apple ID and a payment method associated with it. Once you have provided a payment method with your Apple ID, it will be used for all the purchases you make on these select Apple stores. For setting up a payment method, you need to select the most suitable payment mode out of the following.

  • Credit/Debit Cards

  • PayPal

  • Supported wallets

  • Mobile Phone Billing

Apart from that, there are additional methods available in select countries which you can link with your Apple ID for seamless payments in future. For instance, the iPhone users in Thailand can use TrueMoney, an e-payment service available in Southeast Asia.

Other Payment Methods

There are different types of payment methods available on iOS depending on the country and region you live in. PayPal integration is available in 18 countries including UK, US, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Canada, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands and Mexico. Similarly, there are several other payment methods like Alipay, UnionPay, WeChat and App Store Top-up Cards that are available exclusively in China.

In the aforementioned payment modes, the user may have to provide his/her full Chinese National ID.

How To Change/Remove Your Payment Mode?

You can easily change or remove the existing payment mode on your iPhone/iPad. The process is pretty simple. Just follow the steps given below.

  • Launch the Settings app on your iPhone/iPad.

  • Tap on your Name or Display Picture.

  • Tap on iTunes & App Store.

  • Select Apple ID > View Apple ID. You might be asked to authenticate using your Apple ID.

  • Tap on Payment Information.

  • Enter your new Payment Method and card/account details and Save.

  • Make sure that the information you have provided (including the name and the billing address) matches exactly with the information you have provided to your bank or financial institution.

That’s how you can manage your Payment Methods on iPhone/iPad. You can also add Apple Pay as a default payment method if it’s supported in your country.
