A Simple Guide to Writing An Effective Summary Test Report

There are several documents that are being prepared as a part of testing. For eg: test plan doc, Risk management plan strategy document, Configuration management etc. All of there test summary report is one of the documents which is prepared after testing.

 

The purpose of the summary report is described further.

 

Brief of test summary report.

We all are well aware that software testing is the important part of delivering a quality product and verification from the testers for the quality product is mandatory to make a site live.

Test summary is a major deliverable which is maintained at the end of a testing phase or when the testing is completed. The main object of this document is to give the detailed version of the modules that went under the testing process with respect to the stakeholders like senior management and client etc.

The report should be made in such a manner so that the client who sits in a remote location can easily understand the results and status of the testing performed.

 

 

What does the report contain?

 

A normal Test Report layout will contain the underneath data, anyway in view of each Company's practice.

Points to be kept in mind while writing the summary report:

 

As a major aspect of Test Execution, gather all required data on the Testing performed. This will set up a sound Test synopsis report.
Lessons learned can be clarified in detail, which will pass on the Responsibility which was taken to identify these issues. Likewise, this will be a reference for up and coming tasks to maintain a strategic distance from these. 
Saying the Metrics in illustrations shape (Charts, Graphs) will be a decent method to outwardly speak to the status and information.
Keep in mind, Test synopsis report will say and clarify the exercises executed as a major aspect of the Testing, to the beneficiaries to see better.
