After introducing dedicated Operating Systems for many of its products, Apple is now adamant on improving those OS through a series of incremental updates. The iPhone is soon going to have its second iOS 10 update (iOS 10.2) while beta versions of macOS seria 10.12.2 and tvOS 10.1 have also arrived. Amidst all these upgrades rolling out to the developers and beta testers, how watchOS 3 be left behind? Yes, the first beta for watchOS 3.1.1 is now available to the developers. This is another good news for Apple Watch users as it elucidates that the final release for watchOS 3.1.1 is somewhere around the corner. Just like iOS 10.2 and macOS Seria 10.12.2, it will be the second incremental update for the watchOS 3. The watchOS 3 was initially released by Apple in September this year along with iOS 10. The first incremental update for both iOS 10 and watchOS 3 were also released at the same time. Just a week after the launch of iOS 10.1 and watchOS 3.1, Apple started rolling out the developer betas for both the operating systems. So clearly, Apple is keeping a perfect balance among all its products especially the iPhone and Apple Watch.

But since it’s just an incremental update, there might be some minor changes apart from the bugfixes. In case you have a developer’s account, you can download and test it yourself and see what’s new. We’ll tell you how to download and install it.

System Requirements

Since the watchOS 3.1.1 beta is only available to the developers, you need to have a developer beta profile on your iPhone. Also, the iPhone must have iOS 10 or 10.1 installed in it. The watchOS 3.1.1 beta is compatible with all three variants of Apple Watch including the series 1 and series 2. The size of the update would be around 180 mb. So make sure you have at least 250-300 mb free space.

How To Install The Updates?

Since the watchOS 3.1.1 beta is only available to the developers as of now, the installation procedure is a bit complex than usual. First of all, you’ll have to install the watchOS 3 beta certificates from your developer’s account. • Select Apple Watch and tap on install.

  • Enter the passcode and tap on install once more to proceed.

  • Finally, it’ll ask you to reboot the Apple Watch.

  • Select Restart so that your Apple Watch will be rebooted and installation will begin.

The next step is to download the watchOS 3.1.1 update. To download and install the update, follow these simple steps.

Note: Before you proceed, make sure that your Apple Watch is well charged and make sure iPhone is connected to a trusted WiFi network.

  • Launch the Watch App in your compatible iPhone device.

  • Go to My Watch tab and then go to General.

  • Select Software Update.

  • Select Download and Install.

  • Agree to the terms and conditions.
