Android oreo is finally here. After months of testing the latest operating system was launched through a live stream. Although it is not yet available for users. instead, it is available to developers since mid-march. From the promotion videos, it is assumed that the name will be either Android Oreo or Android Oatmeal cookie. Now it is clear that it is named as Oreo. 

 

 

User Interface and Experience

The notifications are organised into custom channels where you can modify the alerts. It lets you set the background colour and sounds for the notification. The notifications are time bound which means it will be cancelled after a particular time period and you can even snooze notification in this way it will appear after the certain time period. 

 


Picture-in-Picture

This feature was initially launched for Android Tv. It allows users to watch videos while using another app. It is specially designed for those users who willing to use other apps while viewing videos at that time. This feature will most probably be included in WhatsApp and it will be launched with the Android Oreo. It is also very familiar with floating bubble of Facebook Messenger.

New set of emojis

The major change comes in the set of emojis of new Android 8.0. Google has stopped using the “Blob faced emojis” instead it's emojis will look a lot like emojis on Apple’s iOS. It has announced its compatibility with Emoji 5.0 which includes vomit face, orange heart and many other. These emojis have mostly gradient applied to it. 

 

 

Autofill Framework with Google

The another interesting feature that comes with the Android Oreo is the autofill which auto fills card number, name, phone number etc. If you have let Chrome to save your data, then that information will be used in the Android Oreo. You can log in to any social media account on mobile or tab using the auto saved credentials by chrome. 

 

 

Support for wider colour gamuts

This update let the developers take advantage of support for a wide-colour gamut display. Android phones have the pro style photo editing feature but the apps do not have. With the new update, it's possible to use wide colour gamut on apps as well.
