Google has rolled out an exclusive update of the YouTube app for its iOS mobile users quite recently. The update brings a light UI upgrade as well as a series of changes including the ability to adjust playback speed of the YouTube videos. You can now speed up or slow down any video with just a few taps.
Previously, you could only do that on the YouTube website. Lately, Android became the first mobile platform to have this feature with the latest YouTube update. And now with this update coming to the iOS platform will allow all the iPhone and iPad owners to do the same. However, this feature worked on the mobile website of YouTube but then you would have to open it in Safari which is sort of the old way. How To Adjust The PlayBack Speed of The Videos
Before trying this feature, make sure you are using the latest version of the app. It only works in the version 12.33 or later. You can easily check your current YouTube version. Just launch the YouTube app on your iPhone/iPad. Tap the profile icon shown in the top-right corner and go to Settings. Scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see the version number. If you are running on an older YouTube version, update it immediately from the App Store and then you are good to go.

Launch the YouTube app on your iPhone/iPad.

Play any video you’d like to watch.

When the video is playing, you’ll see three dots at the top right corner of the screen. Tap on that.

From the pop-up menu, select Playback Speed.

You’d see several options to adjust the playback speed. Choose any one!
That’s how you can control the playback speed of the YouTube videos. It works on all the videos and you can choose from the following options.

0.25x: Slowest

0.50x: Slower

0.75x: Slow

1x (Default): The video plays at normal speed.

1.25x: fast

1.5x: faster
-
2x: fastest
That’s all you need to know. Just follow these simple steps and you can play any video on YouTube at a desired playback speed. It’ really a fun way to watch your favorite videos at slower or faster pace.
