How to create a channel for Roku?

Creating a channel for Roku is so easy rather than other streaming player STB(set Top Box). There are following step to create,test,deploy,debug channel

Requirement for creating a channel for Roku

A Roku player with software version 2.7 or later(I recommend Roku 2)

A Computer System with Wi-Fi facility

A TV to connect with Roku player

A Wi-Fi Connection

Roku SDK

Roku SDK can be downloaded from Roku developer website after registration for developer program by visiting on Roku Developer Program website

How to enable Roku player in developer mode

Home 3x, Up 2x, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right

Explanation of above :

press the home screen button three times

   press the up button two times

   press the right button one time

   press the left button one time

   press the right button one time

press the left button one time

   press the right button one time

You will be presented with the Developer Settings page where you can enable developer mode on the box. When developer mode is enabled, you can access the Application Installer page as specified in the next section.

If you would like to subsequently disable development mode on your box, simply enter the special remote code sequence (above process)again and select the "disable installer" option on screen

Internet Connection Configuration

 Now Connect your Computer System and Roku device with same Wi-Fi or Wired connection

 To connect your roku player with Wi-Fi, follow following process

  press home screen button

   Select the Setting option from lists by scrolling down key

  You will see another list & choose Network option from the lists

You will see the available type of connection choose  Wireless(Wi-Fi) option from the list

If your device not connected to internet then you will see Set up new Wi-Fi connection if your device connected to internet you will see Update connection scroll down key to and select Set up new Wi-Fi connection and select a  Wi-Fi connection which is also connected to your computer system

Now setup is completed and ready to deploy build to test a channel . I will discuss and explain How to deploy and debug a channel for Roku in next blog.
