Brief about Software Test Life Cycle

STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle ) is a process of activities during Software Testing. Software Testing Life Cycle defines the steps and process for Testing a Software.
Software Testing Life Cycle contains series of activities of methodology that helps to Test a Software.
Different stages and Phases in Software Test Life Cycle :-
These stages of Software Testing Life Cycle have a Entry and Exit criteria.
Entry and Exit Criteria:-
Entry Criteria:-Entry Criteria provides the required items that must be completed before testing.
Exit Criteria: Exit Criteria provides the items that must be completed before testing can be finish.
Requirement Analysis:-

Analyzing the Requirement of the system from the testing point of view and prepare Requirement document.

Prepare the Requirement Traceability Matrix.

prepare the testing techniques and types of testing.

Prioritizing the feature which need focused during testing.

Identifying testing environment details where actual testing should be done.
Test Planning:-

Preparation of test plan documents for different type of testing.

Select Test tool.

Test effort estimation .

Determining roles and responsibilities.

Planning of resources.

Training requirement.
Test Case Development:-

Based on test plan , create test cases and automation scripits.

Review and baseline test cases and scripts .

Create test data.
Test Environment Setup:-

prepare test Environment and test data .

Perform smoke testing on the build.
Test Execution:-

Execute tests cases as per plan.

Prepare test results document, and log defects document for failed test cases .

Map the defects with the Test Cases in RTM.

Retest the fixed defects.
Test Cycle Closure:-

Based on the above stages ,prepare the test metrics .

Documentation of the project to learn from the project.
