What is Streaming?
Streaming is a technology which is used for transmitting the content of audio and video data to computers and mobile devices over the internet. Streaming allows the recipients to begin to watch or listen almost immediately.
Streaming requires a fast internet connection. It depends on your internet speed for media you are streaming. It is specifically used for Internet content transmitted in real time as it happens. Live streaming is popular for live telecast on television, internet etc.
Basic Process of Streaming
A user visits a web page hosted on a web server and finds a file he would like to see or hear. He will send the request to the server for streaming video or audio. Now web server sends a message to a streaming media server, requesting the specific file. Media server contains content of the file which is recording. This media server sends the response of content to the user computer by passing the web server.
Live Streaming
Live streaming is the same as streaming but this streaming is used for the real-time as it happens. Live streaming is popular with the live telecast on television like you watching the live cricket match on television. It is called live streaming and it is also called one-time events.
Nowadays streaming is popular in games and apps. This technology called on-demand resources games and apps allows to include the core set of features and functions the user first downloads them and then to stream new content as the user needs it.
Issue with Streaming
Streaming transmitting data as you need it, slow internet connection can interrupt your streaming.
Example
If you have streamed only the first 1 minute of a song and your internet connection drops before any more of the song have streamed to your device, the song stops playing.
