Importance of Usability Testing for Web Application Testing

First We need to understand what exactly is usability. “The Degree of something which fit to used” that is known as usability. Usability is combined with two words Use + Ability. That means the product should be able to use by the end users.

What is usability testing:

Usability testing starts at an early stage of the testing. The Application is developed by two major things which are given below:

  1. Functionality of the application

  2. Design of the application

These two basic terms we need to test the application. Let's take an example

=> I want a song app on my smartphone.

=> I go to Google play store and in search, I type Songs app.

=> As we know there are many apps in the store then I downloaded one with the impressive icon.

=> but that application has only 10 songs.

=> But I expect that application will have more that 100 songs.

=> That application is not matched with my expectation I never use that application again.

If User does not feel comfortable with our website or application that means we have to focused on the customer aspect. What customer need in our application.

What should be tested under usability testing:

1. The tester should test the application for different parameters - the Layouts and Navigations, Speed and content.

2. Compare the application to other similar applications.

3. How easy to use the web application or Software for the End users.

4. How easy to learn the application for the End users.

5. How convenient the application for the End users.

6. The application is user-friendly for the End Users or not.

There is five major component of usability testing. Which are given below:

  1. Learnability

  2. Efficiency

  3. Errors

  4. Memorability

  5. Satisfaction

Learnability-> How easy to learn the software with that application is very important so Tester should test that application from that perspective.

Efficiency-> How to fast the application to use tester test that also.

Errors-> How many errors user can face and how easily the server gets recover that errors that also impact on the users to the application.

Memorability-> If the user returns the application after some time. He able to understand on that page where he left or he may start again.

Satisfaction-> How much user satisfied with using our application.

Benefit of the Usability Testing

-> For better quality of the application.

-> For easy to use by the end users.

-> Application is more easily accepted by the users.

-> Productivity Increases loss decreases.

->Analysis of the application is very easy with Usability Testing.

Conclusion: Usability Testing plays an important role to satisfy the End users. If user satisfaction level is high then our profit lever is also high. If satisfaction level is going down then our profit is also going down. So we have to balance them with Usability Testing.

Thanks hope you like it....
