What is Software Testing Metrics?
Software testing metrics is mainly used to estimate the standard of software development and it's testing process. with the help of software testing metrics we could do analysis that we are doing the things in right manner or not in every steps. So that we can minimize failure and also control the quality of product.
the overall aim to follow the process is to handover a quality product to the end user. here we use different metrics-
Types of Metrics
There are different metrics which are used to estimate the standard of a software. the manual testing metrics subcategories in two different metrics.
a. Base Metrics
b. Calculated Metrics
Base Metrics: It consists the test data which is used by the tester at the time of testing. for example
1. How many test cases we need to document
2. How many test cases we need to execute
Calculated Metrics: when we convert the data collected from base metrics into a useful information. this type of information comes into calculated metrics. for example-
1. Test coverage
2.Test efficiency
Importance of Metrics:
1. Metrics are mainly used to set a standard for a process so that we can deliver a quality product which is as per the end user.
2. With the help of different metrics, we can control the quality of a product.
3. We can improve the strategy for the development and testing process.
Metrics Lifecycle:
1. Analysis: In this step, we analyze the metrics and then define the parameters which we use in the metrics.
2. Communicate: Define the importance of this metrics to the team which is involved in the project.
3. Evaluation: Determine the data and it's value for metrics.
4. Reports: Create a report with its result and share the report with the participant of this project then get the suggestion to improve the report.
