Google Launches Poly For AR And VR Objects

Being an app developer is not easy and if you have to create 3D images for virtual and augmented reality app then it's even more difficult job. Creating the realistic world requires exceptional skills. Google already has several tools for creating augmented reality content such as Tilt Brush, Minecraft-esque etc. 

Google wants to make the job of creators easy so it has come up with a solution for creating 3D objects. It is developing a platform known as Poly where you can find variety of virtual and augmented reality objects. It is a free library where you can find 3D images at free of cost for augmented and virtual reality apps. The app lets you modify the images if you don't like the original image. All objects are platform independent and can work on ARCore or ARKit.

There is no doubt that poly is a one-stop solution for browsing, discovering and downloading 3D images. Though you could browse images in Google blocks, google created a much formal project for getting VR and AR dedicated images. Apart from the VR and AR projects, you can use the images for any purpose as per your requirement. At the beginning, Google paid the artists to create objects. They created thousands of objects from simple to complex.

The platform lets you share your work for personal and commercial use using a creative common license on Ploy. Other users can create and remix their own work in the originally submitted work to create a new listing that will link back to the original. The remixed objects are then to be imported into Tilt Brush or Blocks. Most of the featured objects have the low polygon style.

Google even said that Poly is a user-friendly platform and people will find it easy to use. They are now planning to make an API platform for developers in which they can sign up to upload .obj files and remix the original objects.
