AI Can Predict Your Personality By Looking Into Your Eyes

Artificial Intelligence is redefining our world by bringing some remarkable changes in every sector such as healthcare, education, Agriculture, fashion, transportation etc. Artificial Intelligence has become a fascinating concept for the engineers, data scientists, and engineers. Surprisingly, researchers have found a way of using AI to detect the personality of any individual. They took the saying “eyes are the window to the soul” quite seriously. 

Artificial Intelligence is getting a lot better at knowing the human behavior, just by looking at eye movements. Researchers can predict what the person is up to, how sociable, reliable or trustworthy he is. Researchers could successfully identify four  personality traits such as neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness, and conscientiousness out of Big Five personality traits including, openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism

According to the research, people with similar personality traits move their eyes in a similar pattern.  The AI was encoded with different eye movement to observe various scenarios to know how they react to different situations. People were given eye tracking smart glasses, which helped the researchers to track their every eye movement along with answering the questionnaires

What did the researchers observe?

According to their research, they made a list of their finding:

• Curious people scroll their eyes more often than other people.
• People who are open to new ideas and experiences move their eyes from side to side.
• Neurotic people blink their eyes rapidly.
• Optimists people do not look at negative emotional stimuli at a longer time.
• People with the higher level of conscientiousness have greater fluctuations in their pupil size. 

The research was done on around 42 people. Currently, their prediction is not 100% accurate, but it will be with more eye tracking data. The Australian and German researchers tried to build a link between the eye movements and personality traits of the person by using the artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. 

This is the very first time when eye movements have been put to use to identify the personality. Soon, robots and computers will predict our personality traits and will judge us based on that. The whole purpose of the research was to improve the human-machine interactions in the near future.
