How To Improve The Performance of Airplay On Your iPhone

AirPlay is one of the most sought after features in iPhone/iPad that lets you stream audio/video content to other devices through your home Wi-Fi network. It can also be used to mirror the contents of your iDevices on to the TV screen. Doesn’t matter if you have an Apple TV subscription or any other cloud TV subscription, with AirPlay, you can do that on any TV that supports screen mirroring. For instance, if you are playing a movie on your iPhone/iPad, with AirPlay, you can stream it on your TV. However, it can be quite annoying if the video appears blurred or you start hearing constant stuttering in the audio while streaming. Fortunately, there are many ways to improve the performance of the AirPlay feature which in turn, also fixes the quality issues. In this blog, you will learn how to do that.

Troubleshooting

  • First of all, restart everything. Restart all the devices including your TV and iPhone/iPad and try connecting it again via AirPlay. See if that makes any difference.

  • If the aforementioned step doesn’t work out, it’s time you should try switching to a different frequency band. You can try this if you have a dual-band router. The router is usually running in 2.4 GHz range which is very crowded these days which also affects your internet speed. Try switching to the 5 GHz channel. It is much less congested and will definitely have some significant impact on increasing your connection speed.

  • Check if your Bluetooth setting is on. Turn it off and then reconnect to the Wi-Fi again. This is because when the Bluetooth is ‘on,’ it constantly interferes with Wi-Fi 802.11 which causes unwanted disruptions.

  • If you are using an older and outdated router, it’s time you should try considering a new one. Router quality also matters and if you don’t have a dual-band router, it’s high time should purchase a new one!

  • Keep checking the firmware updates as they arrive and keep your firmware up-to-date on all the devices.

  • Place your router at a central position in the house so that it will offer equal connectivity to every portion. The signal strength also affects as it passes through the wall. So if the router is placed at a distant corner, the connection speed will affect as it passes through the walls.

Try all these steps and then use the AirPlay feature on your devices. It will definitely have a positive impact and may boost your connection speed up to great extent.
