iTunes Music Library

If you’ve been using iPhone for several months and you love to hear music, chances are your iTunes library maybe be piled up with downloaded songs. The worst thing happens when you have multiple copies of the exact same music track. Having so many songs in the music library not only consumes the storage space and iCloud usage but also makes it hard for you to find the songs that you’re looking for. To say the least, your music library might become an utter mess if you don’t take necessary measures to avoid that from happening. While iOS 10 boasts some advanced features like Optimized Storage mode to cope up with these issues, sometimes it just don’t fits right. What Optimized Storage mode does for you is to set a data limit for the music library. In that case, as the existing storage space goes beyond that limit, it automatically discards the older tracks or the ones you barely listen to. So as you can already see, it’s not the real solution, is it?

Thankfully, we have a built-in feature in iTunes app for Mac and Windows PCs that lets you identify the duplicate tracks and delete them on the go. In this blog, I’ll show you how to find out the duplicate tracks in your iTunes library and delete them to free up the unwanted storage space and iCloud usage.

How To View The Duplicates

There might be many duplicate files in your iTunes library that you don’t usually notice. But luckily enough you can find those duplicate files in no time by following these few simple steps:

  • Open iTunes app on your Mac or Windows PC.

  • Find Library tab shown just above the main content.

  • Click on Library and then click on Songs at the sidebar shown in the corner left.

  • On the menu bar, click on File at the top right corner.

  • From the drop-down menu, select Library and then click on Show Duplicate Items.

That’s it. Doing that will show you the list of all the existing duplicate tracks in your iTunes Library. So now you can easily decide which songs do you want to remove from the library.

How To Delete The Duplicates

Once you’re done with that, the next step is to delete the duplicate tracks from the library. Deleting them is just as easy as it sounds and you can do that in these three simple steps.

  • From the list of duplicate songs, select the ones you want to delete.

  • From the menu bar shown above, click on Song and then on the drop-down menu, click on Delete.

  • Finally, click on Done and the songs will be gone forever.

So that’s how you find and delete the duplicate songs from your iTunes library. Hope this blog helps you accomplish that task. Meanwhile, read our other blogs on latest iOS features and updates.
