Apple Rolls Out Another Incremental Update For iOS 10

It goes without saying that iOS 10 has turned out to be a game changer for Apple. Being the most powerful operating system ever built by Apple, iOS 10 has got a lot to offer than you could possibly imagine. But despite of all the perks, it had plenty of serious bugs that needed to be fixed. Needless to say, Apple has taken a good care of that either. Several incremental updates of iOS 10 have been released so far following the day of its launch in September 2016. Each update was meant to revamp the user experience by fixing bugs and adding new features.

Yesterday (March 27, 2017), Apple released the fourth incremental update of iOS 10 with several exciting features including Find My Airpods. An over-the-air update of iOS 10.3 is now available for all the supported iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices. In this blog, we’ll be talking about the new features that arrive with this update but before that, let’s start with a brief overview of all the incremental updates that have arrived so far.

iOS 10 Version History

iOS 10 was launched on September 13, 2016 during the Keynote event for iPhone 7 launch.

  • iOS 10.1: The first incremental update arrived 40 days later on October 24, 2016. It wasn’t a major update but it brought several bug fixes. The update also brought stability improvements as well as the performance upgrade.

  • iOS 10.2: This update arrived three months ago and was released on December 12, 2016. The key highlights of this update was a new TV app and a single sign-on feature. However, the TV app is only available to the US citizens. Apart from that, the update also featured several stability improvements and performance upgrades.

  • iOS 10.2.1: This update was released earlier this year on January 2017. It wasn’t a big update and didn’t have much to offer. The size of the update was approx 80MB and it brought some stability improvements as well as some minor bugfixes.

iOS 10.3

iOS 10.3 is the third major update of iOS 10, available for select iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. The size of the update is around 650MB and it brings a number of stand out features. The key highlight of the update is the Find My Airpods feature that helps you locate your lost Airpods. You’ll find this in the Settings app after installing the update. The new feature tells you about the current or last know location of your Airpods. You can also play sounds on one or both of your Airpods to find their location.

Another great feature is the CarPlay which gives you easy access to the last used apps. It creates shortcuts for the last used apps in the status bar so you can find them directly from the status bar.

Better And Revamped Siri

With this new update, Siri has also received a significant upturn. Once you upgrade your iDevice to iOS 10.3, you will be able check the status of your bills that are due via many third party payment apps. It also renders support for booking cabs and scheduling rides via ride booking apps. When integrated with your car accessories, you can also use it for checking the fuel level of your car, lock status, activating/deactivating horn, controlling the headlights and more. All this can be done by means of various automaker apps. Last but not the least, you can also use the app for checking Live scores. Just ask Siri, “What’s the score?” of a match a she’ll give you the update.
