Apple has recently rolled out the major upgrade of ARKit that will be available to all the developers having 11.3 beta for building augmented reality apps for iOS. Many developers participated and used the all-new ARKit 1.5 and have taken advantage of it. They have told that there are more than 200 ARKit enable apps in the App Store. The company showed a demo of developers creating a game that needs a bouncing ball on the floor and then hit the virtual target. ARKit will recognize if that target is missed and the ball will then bounce off the wall. This new version of the augmented reality software development framework ARKit has the list of new features.
- Earlier it was used for floor detection which they use for mapping objects on all desired 3D spaces like walls, windows, floors also on surfaces like table, chairs and many more. This means the kit is able to map virtual objects on vertical, horizontal and irregular shaped surfaces.
- The previous version could only recognize the horizontal surface but now it can recognize both horizontal as well as vertical surfaces.
- With this update, ARKit 1.5 will have better understanding and recognition of any object or surface. It will be able to map and see objects on any vertical surface. And if the surface is of any irregular shape then it maps even more accurately.
- The ARKit 1.5 will be able to map the surface with the virtual interactive exhibits or in other words, it has the ability to turn signs, objects and movie posters into the interactive augmented reality experience.
- The pass-through camera has also improved which will give 50% higher resolution for the more realistic experience. Well, that’s pretty cool. Right?
