Google has recently launched its first ever travel app called Google Trips. The app which fetches the data from Google Maps gives you instant information about the hotels, restaurants, popular tourist spots and much more for the top 200 cities of the world. The data is collected by the historic visits of travellers to different locations around the world and is then fed into the app as a list of all the famous tourist spots. Google has been working on this app for the last couple of months and it’s finally here.
Google Trips help you organize your day-to-day travel plans. It helps you keep a track of your destinations along with the other tourist spots and points of interest that happen to be nearby. In short, Google Trips can prove to be the best tour guide you could ever have.
What Makes It Stand Apart?
Google Trips offers a variety of out-of-the-box features for all the travel freaks out there. You can use it to imbibe all the necessary information about almost any city of the world that you’re planning to visit. You can also save your places of interest while being in that city for future reference. Under the “Your Trips” section, you would see numerous colorful cards indicating your Saved Places, Things To Do, Day Plans, Food & Drinks etc. It’ll give you instant notifications about your travel plans and reminders for important things so that you never miss out on anything. Besides, it also gives you suggestions for the nearby places and the things that you could possibly do while being in a particular city. You can even tell the app about the time that you’re going to spend in that city. For instance, you’ve got just six hours to see your favorite places in a city, the app will only give you suggestions about the best of the best places in the close vicinity so that you could have the best travel experience in those six hours that you’re left with.
However, you can add any place or tourist spot to your itinerary by simply tapping over it and you can also remove that place any time if you want. Whenever you add a place to your itinerary, a magic wand icon appears at the top right. Tapping on it gives you information about the nearby places to that particular spot including hotels, restaurants or other points of interest.

Book Flights, Hotels & Restaurants
Google Trips is a comprehensive travel app which not only gives you information about the tourist spots, hotels, bars and restaurants but it also lets you book flights, hotels, cabs and more. It helps you make early reservations for the flights and on the spot bookings (few hours before the departure) can also be done if seats are available. It also features possible discounts that you can avail at the time of booking. It also lets you book a hotel room or a table at some restaurant or bar.
Seamless Offline Usability
Perhaps the best part about Google Trips is that you can use it offline once you have downloaded all the information about the city in which you are roaming around. Under the Your Trips section, you can easily download any location and after that, you can easily access the location while you’re offline.
Nevertheless, this new offline usage feature has been brought to light this year in the recent update of Google Maps. The new and revamped Google Maps enable you to download the navigation data for any city or location and once you’ve done that, you can easily access it while being offline. Google Trips also implements the same thing.

The Google Trips app is available to both android and iOS users. But since it fetches data directly from Google Maps, it will work for iOS powered devices only if the device also has the Google Maps application installed in it.
