Google Duo Makes Video Calling Easier Than Ever

Google has finally launched its long awaited Video Calling app last Monday (i.e August 15, 2016). The app is called Google Duo which claims to provide the most simple yet interactive video calling experience. With Google Duo, you can start a video call at a single finger tap. Google Duo is a one-on-one Video Calling app that lets you make free video calls over the internet just like Skype, Facetime and Facebook Messenger. The Duo app is available on both android and iOS platforms and is absolutely free to download and run. However, it might not be available in some countries yet, but Google is planning to make it live worldwide within the next few days. So let’s move on and talk about what Google Duo has to offer and what makes it different from all the existing video calling applications.

What Makes It So Special?
Google Duo makes Video Calling experience much more responsive and easy. It also gives you capabilities to switch from cellular service to a WiFi network at any time. This unique feature enables the users to make Video Calls without any interruption and withouting jeopardising the video quality. However, the video quality might be affected at slower internet connections. Another magnificent feature called “Knock Knock” enables the Duo users to see the incoming calls even when the app is not opened. However, this functionality is only available to the android users so far. In case you have an iOS device, the app must be open in order to preview the incoming calls. Taking a call couldn’t be any easier. You just need to tap and swipe to answer a call and join in all the fun. Last but not the least, all the video calls made by Google Duo are secured with end-to-end encryption.
Intensifying The Competition
Google Duo seems to fall heavy on its competitors like Skype, Facetime and Facebook Messenger. Owing to its simple user interface, Duo is more suitable for casual users who just want to make video calls. On contrary to this, Skype has a quite complicated interface and is meant for many other applications like chatting, multimedia sharing and screen sharing. But Google Duo is exclusively designed for Video Calling.
One major downside of Facetime is that it doesn’t allow cross-platform communications and facebook messenger is vaguely used for video calling. All these factors put Google Duo ahead in the competition when it comes to Video Calling and it owns a great potential to steal the market in the near future.
