Getting Started

Before getting started, make sure you have Wowza Streaming Engine 4.5 installed in your Windows, Linux or Mac PC. Also make sure that your streaming media content fulfils the following conditions imposed by Facebook for sending live streams to facebook.

  • The length of videos should not exceed 90 minutes. In case that happens, the post will be instantly terminated by Facebook.

  • The maximum supported resolution is 720 x 1280.

  • The maximum supported bitrate for audio content is 2500 Kbps.

First of all, you need to configure your facebook account to receive and distribute live streams. However, if you are going to post a Streaming Video to your timeline, wall, to any group, page or event, then you don’t need to configure it. The configuration is pretty simple. You just need to create a Live Application in your Wowza Streaming Engine. Let’s see how it goes.

How To Create A Live Application?

The Live Application that you create in your Wowza Streaming Engine will allow you to ingest live media streams directly to your facebook account. In order to create a live application and start streaming videos, you need to follow these simple steps.

  • Launch the Wowza Streaming Engine and sign in to reach the homescreen.

  • From the homescreen page, click on the Applications tab shown at the top left corner of the page.

  • It will open a small tab having several options, select Live from the options and proceed.

  • Click on sources from the contents panel.

  • After that, you need to choose the video source and that’s all it takes to configure.

After completing the configuration process, you can start using it to ingest live streams to your facebook account.
