Roles And Responsibilities Of A QA Leader

A QA leader is like a vise captain of the ship who shares an equal responsibility and takes care of a upcoming product quality, for getting software out to the customers with a very good quality. As a QA lead, there are multiple responsibilities which QA needs to take care of. Nowadays quality is the backbone of any successful product which directly proves that the quality assurance team of any industry play a very significant role.

Roles And Responsibility Of QA Leader:
Defining Testing Strategies
1) Defining processes for test plan and several phases of the testing cycle.
2) Planning and scheduling several milestones and tasks like alpha and beta testing.
3) It settles that all the improvement errands are satisfying quality criteria through test arranging, test execution, quality affirmation and issue following.

4) Work closely on the deadlines of the project
5) Ensure that the team is focusing on automation testing also along with manual testing.

Leadership

1) Building a good team and choosing the right number and skilled engineers for a good team.
2) Assign various tasks to the engineers as per strength of an individual.
3) Setting up goals and objectives for QA managers

Reporting

1)Reviewing status reports from team managers and taking appropriate actions accordingly.
2)Should be a focal point of contact for the QA team for all the escalations related to testing and Quality assurance.
3)Sending clear status to the higher management.
4)Creating and defining risks contingencies and plans.
5)Seeking feedback from management wherever necessary.

Managing Risks

1) Understanding and defining all the areas to calculate the overall risk to the project.
2) Creating strategies to mitigate those risks and take necessary measures to control the risks.
3) Awareness should be there to all the stakeholders for the various type of risks
4) Create backup plans for all the testing strategies.
5) Have team meetings at an appropriate time to understand & review the current risks and motivate a team to resolve the same.

Conclusion:

 

A Quality Head has so many responsibilities as he has to make sure that there is no gap between quality release and quality perceived by the end user. Since nowadays quality is a sole factor which distinguishes competitive products, the test lead has a key role to play.

He has to continuously improve him and his team to match the new technology, testing techniques and methodologies of the market.
