Sony’s whole new cloud based TV and live streaming service, Playstation Vue is pushing the boundaries. It is no longer restrained to the Playstation and is making its way to the masses through various popular platforms like iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV and Roku. However, Playstation Vue is only available in United States so far but is likely to expand very soon.

What Is Playstation Vue?

Playstation Vue is a cloud based pay-TV service brought to you by Sony that allows the users to stream live TV, movies, music, sports and lot more on a wide range of devices without the need of any satellite or cable connection. Playstation Vue gives you access to more than 100 TV channels and it boasts some impeccable features like simultaneous streaming and cloud DVR. Thanks to the unmatched cloud DVR, it enables the users to simultaneously record hundreds of different shows at the same time. Playstation Vue provides thousands of hours of storage so that you never get short of storage space. Owing to the internet facility that comes along, you don’t need to indulge in any kind annual contracts.   

Playstation Vue currently offers a felicitous lineup of various local and on-demand channels from some top-rated networks like Discovery, MTV, Cartoon Network, Disney, National Geographic, Fox and Viacom. Playstation Vue service comes in three monthly packages starting from $29.99 onwards.

• Access: This is the most fundamental plan that starts with $29.99 monthly charges and offers 55+ channels including movies, music and sports.

• Core: This secondary plan offers 70+ channels and it costs $39.99 per month. The Core plan includes all the channels from Access and some additional channels as well.

• Elite: Elite is the top-end plan that features all the channels from the previous plans along with many other channels including CNBC, Discovery, TVLand, MTV and many others. The Elite plan costs $44.99 per month and features 100+ TV channels.

Salient Features of Playstation Vue

Apart from On-Demand shows and cloud DVR, Playstation Vue incorporates many other stand out features and functionalities. Some of these features are listed below.

• My Shows: It is a unique functionality that lets you save and play your favorite TV shows at any time. Whenever you add any episode to the My Shows list, it is stored on the cloud for up to 28 days and you can play it anytime within this period.

• Quick Nav: Quick Nav is a fast and easy way to navigate through various channels or saved TV shows without having to go back to the home screen.

• Timeline: Timeline provides you a personalized view of all the shows that you’ve previously watched, the shows that you’re currently watching and reminder for the shows that you’re going to watch later.

• Second Screen Viewing: Playstation Vue also enables you to use Second Screen Viewing of several channels with Playstation Vue mobile. You can also cast it directly to your television and many other devices.

Progress & Current Status

Initially when Playstation Vue was launched, the users required PS-3 or PS-4 console to avail the services of Playstation Vue. But by the end of 2015, Sony provided support for Amazon Fire TV and lately, it announced the support for Roku devices as well.

For all one who knows, this isn’t the end. Sony team happens to have bigger plans for this cloud based TV and live video streaming service. Playstation Vue is now also available on android and iOS platform. Anyone can download the mobile app but the services are currently available in United States only.
