ios boot loop

If you’re using an iPhone for quite a long time, you might have heard about the the startup loop or boot loop issues in iOS. In case you haven’t, it’s a software error that causes your iPhone to stuck at the Apple logo for hours when you restart your phone and it just won’t go further. Although the chances are mild, it can happen with any iPhone user without any prior warning. There is no specific reason as to why it happens. It mostly happens when you jailbreak your iPhone or a failed attempt to upgrade may result into a startup loop. It might also happen in case you are using an older beta version of some iOS. While in some cases, a simple reboot can result into this precarious state.

This rare state where your iPhone just won’t go past the Apple logo is known as the boot loop. Boot loop issues are very common in Android and most of these can be fixed by resetting your device while being in the recovery mode. However, the procedure of doing that in iOS is somewhat different. It’s very difficult for an average iPhone user to figure out how to fix this issue. But with little efforts, anyone can do this. In this blog, I’ll give you some valuable tips to get your iPhone out of the boot loop state.

Reboot Your Device

Sometimes, the state of startup loop is just temporary and it can be fixed just by rebooting your device. And even if that won’t fix the problem, you can at least try. So just reboot your device first and see if that makes any difference. If that doesn’t work out, it’s time you need to hard reset your device. This is an implicit step, and it will most probably get your iPhone out of the startup loop or boot loop. But since your iPhone isn’t going past the Apple logo, you need to perform this action by going into recovery mode.

Time To Reset

In most of the cases, the boot loop in iOS can be fixed by performing a hard reset on your iPhone. You can do that by rebooting your device into recovery mode first. Doing that would link your device directly with your iTunes account and then you can restore a fresh iOS version to your device and recover all the iTunes data as well. Doing that is pretty simple. You just need to follow these simple steps.

recovery mode

  • While you’re stuck at the Apple start screen, turn off your iPhone normally by pressing and holding the power button.

  • Connect your iPhone with the the windows or mac PC via lightning cable and as soon as you do that, press and hold the home button.

  • Keep pressing that for several minutes until your phone goes past the Apple logo.

  • Once you go past the Apple logo, you’ll see a screen like this (The one shown in the image above).

  • It means you have entered the recovery mode and as soon as you do that, your phone’s icon will appear on the computer screen and there you can see the option to reset your device.

  • Find the Restore iPhone icon shown at the top left of the screen and click on it.

So that’s pretty much how you reset your iPhone by going into the recovery mode. This tweak is quite helpful in fixing the boot loop issues. But in case you have jailbroken your device, chances are you’ll lose the jailbreak by resetting your device. But if there’s no other option left for you, this tweak is definitely worth a shot. However in some cases, resetting your device can’t be of any use and the problem might still persist. In case that happens, it doesn’t mean that your device can’t be fixed. There’s a solution to that either. But for that, you’ll have to boot your iPhone into DFU mode. The procedure for fixing boot loop in DFU mode is a bit more complicated. I hope this blog was helpful for you. In case it wasn’t keep visiting our blog as I’ll be writing how to fix the same issue by going into DFU mode.
