You Can Now Remove Depth Effect From Portrait Mode Photos

Portrait Mode is amongst the most sought after camera features ever to exist. The feature was introduced by iOS 10 exclusively for the iPhone 7 Plus users. Switching your camera settings to Portrait Mode automatically creates a depth effect which sort of blurs the background while keeping a sharp focus on the subject at the same time. This depth effect is creating by leveraging the dual-lens camera setup provided in iPhone 7 Plus. That’s the reason why this feature is not available in any other iDevice.

As it turns out, there’s no way to remove the Depth Effect (also known as Bokeh or Background Blur) from photos in iOS 10. However, with iOS 11, Apple has now made it possible to remove this so called Depth Effect from Portrait Mode photos. iOS 11 is bringing several upgrades to the Photos and Camera apps. This includes improvements to the Portrait Mode in Camera app. Above all that, iOS 11 lets you remove the Depth Effect not only from Portrait Mode but also from the photos taken with this effect.

Other Improvements In Portrait Mode

Besides this, the Portrait Mode in iOS 11 will see many new changes and improvements coming to the iPhone 7 Plus users. For instance, you can now take pictures in portrait mode with optical image stabilization which gives you sharper focus and True Tone flash. This allows you to take depth of field photos even in the low-light conditions. In addition to that, Portrait Mode now features HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging which allows you to take even more spectacular images.
