UI Setup For IoT Security

Posted By : Rohitesh Rawat | 26-Sep-2017

For those who work in IoT space, mobile, or embedded, security of devices is a challenge.

Although Security designs, firmware, and Hardware are also considered to ensure the security of these IoT devices, the first and foremost step should be a strong and stable user interface. Most devices in medical and safety systems do not offer any strong UI defense in today's time.

Last year the distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack hacked many devices and impacted many websites.

The impact of the attack made the news and this tells us that we can improve IoT devices UI security.

Organisations should setup some UI actions to improve securities.

Online help instructions, encryptions, wizards, etc. should be some of the protocols which should be established.

Risk-based testing concepts should be included by testers in their test design and planning.

Tester should not believe that the devices does not have any security risks even though managers or development teams believe so.

Testers must consider many of the security factors and information or feedback should be provided to the managers and the stakeholders so that everyone can make informed decisions.
