Twitter Launched Notification Tab And People Are Not Liking It

Twitter has made some changes to your notification tab which makes it more occupied. The notification tab will show you some more information like people who are currently available along with the usual updates which include, likes, retweets, and mentions. The notification feature in twitter is not new. Initially, the twitter released a feature called, “in the know” but it was developed vis experimental account to make it even user-friendly and better. It then changed into “interesting activity” where notifications would come as a push notification. Last year, a company started testing out this feature on certain users and now this feature is available on both mobile as well as the web.

The idea behind the change was that people who spend less time on twitter don’t miss out anything interesting related to people they are following on twitter like trending topic, retweets your tweets, some viral news, your follower has started following someone else you will get notification for everything. People tweet many times a day and therefore there are chance you miss some of the important information so to avoid that, this feature has been rolled out. The major drawback of the new feature is that it has made the notification tab over crowded as earlier, it used to appear as a push notification but now it comes in the same notification tab. Since it is getting difficult for people to handle it, twitter has “see less often” for those who don't wish to see all of the notification. Twitter is not the first social media platform that shows all the notifications at on place as we have seen this feature on facebook as well which shows who have liked the post, who have tagged you, birthday reminders, current and upcoming events and much more. So according to us, twitter should not dilute the notification tab with so many messages.
