Alexa Integration to the Amazon App

Being the world’s largest e-commerce site, Amazon is well known for its out of the box features and avant-garde approach. While initially it was started as an e-commerce site with a domain name Amazon.com, Amazon Inc. has now carved its niche in technological landscape as well. With a market cap of over 400 billion USD, Amazon is ranked among the top tech savvy companies with much more coming in the near future.

Yesterday, Amazon Inc. announced the Alexa integration for its shopping app making it easy for the customers to find products available on Amazon with minimal efforts. Initially, the Alexa feature will be available exclusively for the iOS platform while the android version is expected to arrive after several weeks.

What Is Alexa?

Alexa is the name given to the personal assistant developed and maintained by Amazon. Popularly known as Amazon Echo, it was only available in hardware variants so far but now with the mobile app integration, it is going digital for the first time. Alexa enables a series of interactive features such as voice interaction, music playback, streaming podcasts and obtaining real-time traffic alerts. You can ask it to play music, provide weather information, news updates, traffic alerts and much more. When integrated with homekit accessories, Alexa also gives you full control of your home appliances.

There’s also an exclusive Alexa app available for Android and iOS platforms which can be connected to the Amazon Echo enabled devices to streamline the voice communications. The smartphone on which the app is installed can be used as a remote control to operate the devices. The same app can be used to control multiple devices at the same time. All the interactions with Alexa are also mirrored on the app giving you the necessary details right on your finger tips.

Integration With The Amazon Shopping App

The forthcoming Alexa integration with the Amazon shopping app is no doubt a major headway for Amazon as it’s going to completely revamp the user-experience (UX). Alexa will certainly provide a robust voice-interface to the app. The best part is, “it won’t just be your personal assistant to the retail store but you can also use it as a smart assistant to answer your questions, play music, give weather details, traffic alerts and much more.”

With this integration, you will also be able to use the smart home capabilities of Alexa through the Amazon app. Besides, it will also let you call an Uber or place an order at Starbucks.

So all in all, it can be perceived as a mobile equivalent of the Alexa Echo that doesn’t require any additional hardware.
