how to run android on your PC

Most of us had never thought of running an android OS on our PCs or laptops but it is very much possible. Imagine how much fun it would be to run android apps on your computer screen ! Android has never been seen as a computer operating system but if you still want to try it out, it's never too late. Infact, Google’s mobile OS works perfectly on a desktop too. And making your laptop or desktop to run on Android is not a rocket science and is quite easy and simple. You don't even need to make a single change to your computer and this could be performed simply by making use of a flash drive or a memory card.

LET’S START (Step by Step Guide on How To Run Android on Your Computer)

1st Step (Preparing Your Drive To Install Android)

Firstly, you should have a USB drive or SD card available with you and their storage capacity should not be less than 2GB. Make sure to save all your important data which is there on this USB drive or the SD card involved, as it will all be formatted during the process.

  • Now that all your data is backed up safely, you will require an Android x86 project build. Over here, Android 6.0 64-bit version is getting tested but you could pick any android version depending on which one works best for your current setup.

  • Now, click on the “view” option to start downloading. This process might take some time to finish depending on your connection speed.

  • While it gets downloaded, you also need to download Rufus which is a free Windows tool going to help you in installing Android onto the flash drive. It is portable, that means, you can store it anywhere after it gets downloaded with no necessity for installation.

  • After everything gets done, launch Rufus. A Windows warning pop-up will appear asking permission from you regarding whether to allow Rufus to make changes on your device or not.  Click on “Yes” and continue.

  • Now that Rufus is up and running, move ahead by choosing your USB drive in the top dropdown list. This is the most crucial step not to mess up with, as Rufus will format the drive involved. In case, you have inserted more than one removable drive in your computer, you need to cross-check the drive letter again to make sure that you are performing the installation for the intended one.

  • Next, make sure that “FAT32” is selected in the File System dropdown.

  • Put a tick mark to “Create bootable disc using” box and then select the ISO image from dropdown.

  • Then, Click on the little CD drive-looking button which could be found next to “ISO image” in order to select Android x86 ISO file that you have downloaded earlier.

  • Once your file gets selected, it will automatically perform a quick scan-check of the file to make sure that all is going good. After it gets over, you can now install this thing. By clicking on “Start”, installation begins.

  • Now, a dialog box will appear that would let you know that the file is an ISOHybrid image which eventually tells you that it can be written in either of the two ways - as an ISO or a DD image. The recommended would be the “ISO image” option which would be pre-selected. Click on “OK” to continue.

  • Another warning will appear which would making you aware of the fact that everything present on the drive will be deleted. Click on “ok” to continue.

  • The process of ISO installation on the drive would start. A green file progress bar will show up at the bottom of your screen to make you aware of the process completion. Once the green bar gets full and the process gets completed, you may like to close Rufus and remove your flash drive.

2nd Step (Running Android on your Computer) - USB Drive Boot

Now, you would like to boot your system from that same USB drive. You might need to alter a few settings in the BIOS. To make these changes, read this manual.

  • Now that everything has been set up , start your PC and press either f10 or f12 to enter into a boot menu. From this boot menu, choose your USB drive.

  • After all this been done, a menu will appear asking you how to run the installation - Live CD mode or Install it to Hard Disk. Choose the first option, that is, to run Android x86 without installing.

  • A few seconds later, you will see the android boot animation and a setup menu will appear.

Now, simply go according to the on-screen guidance in order to get logged in to your account. And from here on, it will all be smooth sailing similar to setting up any other Android device.

Running android apps on a PC is always a lot of fun and I hope this blog will help you to do the same by yourself without running for help from others.
