iOS 11 Public Beta

Apple has released second beta of its long awaited mobile operating system (iOS 11) which apparently has the same features as provided in the third developer beta of iOS 11. There are many notable changes in the new update including the message drag and drop feature that let you send the written text to any contact without the need of copy-pasting. Also, you can now sync your messages on iCloud, making it a lot easier to retrieve your text messages on any Apple device. A new dark mode has been added to the Apple Music app. Of course there’d be much more to explore in the final release and Apple is very likely to release a few more betas before the final system update (iOS 11). But for those who can’t wait or those who don’t want to wait any longer, can try downloading the public beta version on their compatible iOS device.

It’s just that iPhone 5 and 5c will no longer be supported. Given below is the list of all the compatible devices that support iOS 11 update.

iPhone: iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

How To Install iOS 11 Beta?

You can’t normally download any of the iOS 11 betas on your device. For that, you must have a valid developer account or at least your device must be enrolled to access the public betas of iOS. You can do so by visiting beta.apple.com and signing in with your Apple ID.

Here’s a step-by-step guide that tells you how you can do that.

  • Open Safari browser on your iPhone/iPad, type in beta.apple.com and proceed.

  • Tap on the Sign Up button.

  • Sign in with your Apple ID.

  • A popup will appear for confirming Apple ID sign in.

  • Allow access to it.

  • You’ll get a six-digit verification code on your device. Enter the code and tap on continue to proceed.

  • Scroll down and tap on Accept to accept the user agreement.

  • On the screen that follows, it will show a guide for public betas with three options at the bottom i.e macOS, iOS and tvOS. Tap on iOS.

  • It will take you to a page with url beta.apple.com/profile.

  • Tap on Download Profile.

  • Just as you do that, the iOS software profile will be displayed in the Settings app.

  • Tap on install button at the top-right.

  • A popup will appear requiring immediate Restart. Tap on Restart to complete the process.

After the restart, the beta profile will be installed on your iPhone/iPad. Now you can normally install the iOS 11 public beta. Just go to Settings > General > Software Update. It’ll show you the latest beta release available for download. Tap on install and follow the usual steps to complete the installation.
