HTML5 player - The future for video format
Until now, Flash Player was the only source responsible for the delivery of high-impact, web rich media content. But, with the emergence of new open standard HTML5, the flash player got a step back.
In June of 2004, Firefox, Opera along with Apple Safari began initiative for the elaboration of HTML5 standard. Later Google Chrome and Internet Explorer 10 joint the hands to support HTML5.
Some of the major concerns like Mobile capabilities, issues with the Flash file format (FLV) and below listed points helping HTML5 video player to mark its presence in the market
-
iOS devices took their hands out to support Flash Players.
-
Complexity of the simplest Flash installation
-
FLV is not a common distribution format supported by the browser so it takes time to convert the FLV files to supported format
-
FLV files are not so easy to preview and the compressed format reduces the quality.
-
Newly converted videos do not run on older Flash versions.
Alongwith the above consideration, the withdrawal of Linux support along with some other platforms like Solaris, FreeBSD etc... Landed Flash player to retire from the fame of being the best in the market.
Advantages of HTML5
-
HTML5 is integrated to the browsers
-
Many browsers for security reason needs to disable Adobe Flash Plugin
-
Developers finds it easy to set up communication among HTML5 and Browser
-
Unlike Flash plugin, HTML5 overcomes the issue of playing videos over any browser.
