Apple TV is once again in news for the successful deployment of the third installment of its tvOS 10 beta. The tvOS 10 beta 3 was launched last week and is now available for developer testings. Comparing it with the previous version, beta 3 incorporates many new features and bug fixes as well. As a matter of fact, the beta 2 of this fourth generation Apple TV was launched 2 weeks prior to the release of beta 3. This is a sharp indication that the final tvOS 10 release is somewhere around the corner.

The third beta version of tvOS 10 boasts a number of features that were never seen before. Besides, it’s going to be the first Apple TV operating system that will enable the users to switch to Dark Mode whenever needed. Apart from this, there are many other stand out features like single sign on for pay TV apps, better and improved Siri features, tilt gaming support, Voice search for YouTube, Prompt and automatic downloads, Live tuning and much more. Let’s now talk about some of these new and exciting features introduced exclusively by tvOS 10 beta 3.

Dark Mode

As already mentioned above, Dark Mode is introduced to the Apple TV for the very first time. Dark Mode refines the TV viewing experience of the Apple TV users. Switching to Dark Mode instantly changes the theme and background of the homescreen and gives it a dark appearance so that it won’t affect the eyes while watching TV in a dark room. Dark Mode not only darkens the background of the homescreen, it does the same with all the Apple TV app and some non-Apple TV apps as well. Besides, it is very easy to switch between Dark and Light modes. If at any point you feel like you no longer want to see your TV in dark mode, you can easily switch back to Light mode by going into Settings > General > Appearance. Nevertheless, you can also give voice commands to Siri and she’ll automatically switch to whatever mode you’d like.

Enhanced Siri Features

Siri is now more smart and intelligent than ever. Many new Siri commands are added to the database yielding a better and improved personal assistant that lets you do almost anything that Apple TV supports. You can now ask Siri what’s playing and she’ll let you know even before even switching to that screen.

Take an assumption for a while. Suppose you’re listening to your favorite song and you want Siri to remember that song for you. Just say, “Siri, I like this song” and Siri will add the song to your favorites. Siri now also supports sports queries in three new languages i.e Swedish, Dutch and Norwegian.

Other Fixes In Music Apps & Game Controls

There are many other small but notable changes in the third beta of tvOS 10. For instance, you can now add songs playing on Beats 1 to your playlist. Also, the playback song functionality now works properly while accessing other songs from the album. And now you can also ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ a particular song while it is playing. Later on, you can easily retrieve the list of songs that you’ve liked and disliked. In previous version of tvOS 10 beta, there were some issues with game controls which have been resolved in the third beta version.

So clearly, not many changes are there in beta 3, but it incorporates some much needed enhancements and bug-fixes thereby making it superior than all the previous versions.
